In 2015, the National Fashion League Hungary Association took a pioneering step by establishing its Eco Team. Our goal was clear: to inspire designers and fashion professionals in Hungary to collaborate for a more sustainable industry.

Following a highly successful debut at Budapest Fashion Week, our President, Dr. Gabriella Mányi Walek, made a landmark decision to create something unique—a complex, international platform for sustainability. This “brainchild” became the Global Sustainable Fashion Week (#GSFW), a global stage for conferences, workshops, exhibitions, and eco-fashion shows.

From the start, #GSFW was built on world-class expertise. Our mission was championed by Vittorio Giomo, a renowned Italian sustainability educator, and Dr. Sass Brown, a world-leading researcher, educator, and activist with extensive experience across the UK, USA, and Dubai. Their support helped cement #GSFW as a bridge between tradition and modern ethical practices.

Today, as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary, we are proud that #GSFW has become the most powerful sustainable fashion platform in Central Europe. While our journey began in Budapest, #GSFW has significantly expanded its international presence, hosting numerous satellite and accompanying events outside of Hungary to strengthen our global impact.

A core pillar of our mission is the education of the next generation. We recently launched our #GSFW EduPlatform, dedicated to teaching sustainable, eco-conscious, and ethical fashion practices on a broad scale, ensuring that future industry leaders are equipped with the knowledge to drive change.
