In 2015, the National Fashion League Hungary Association set up an Eco Team with the aim to encourage the designers and professionals of the fashion industry in Hungary to work together for a more sustainable fashion industry.

Representatives of this Eco Team had already debuted at Budapest Fashion Week in 2015, due to the close collaboration with this prestigious Fashion Week. As the received feedback was very positive, in the same year the president of the National Fashion League Hungary Association made an important decision to create a new, unique, complex international sustainable fashion week (including international conference, workshops, exhibition, eco fashion show, accompanying and VIP events) and a global platform for sustainable fashion stakeholders from all over the world.

This consideration to establish the Global Sustainable Fashion Week, #GSFW was supported by Vittorio Giomo, an excellent expert and educator of sustainability, living in Italy and by Dr.Sass Brown, an outstanding professional, researcher, educator, curator, writer, and activist in ethical and sustainable fashion, with a good practice in this field in UK, USA, Dubai.

The “brainchild” Dr.Gabriella Mányi Walek, the president of #GSFW and the #GSFW Team is very proud of the fact that within 8 years the #GSFW has become the most powerful sustainable fashion week in Central Europe.

Now the leadership of #GSFW is establishing a new layer of team productivity and efficiency toward achieving goals. For this purpose, a more efficient structure has been created with #GSFW Ambassadors, enriching the current team with new professionals from the global sustainable textile and fashion industry. In order to motivate the new generation, Junior Ambassadors have been appointed too.

Therefore, at present the #GSFW structure is in this stage of development and we are pleased to welcome others who are in the process of joining, in addition to the team members below.
