Global Sustainable Fashion Week - EduPlatform

Fundraiser Story

Our National Fashion League Hungary Association is a non-profit organization that created the Global Sustainability Fashion Week (#GSFW) in 2015, which has now become Central Europe’s most significant sustainable fashion event. The association also fulfills a mission to raise awareness as widely as possible that the fashion industry needs to change, as it is the second most polluting industry in the world and requires much more environmentally conscious and ethical behavior not only from brands and companies, but also from consumers. Today, representatives from every continent are joining the annual #GSFW fashion week held in Budapest and online, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary.

We have achieved our results through a lot of hard work and extensive networking, as unfortunately, we have received very little financial support so far. The members of the international #GSFW board, ambassadors, and volunteers work pro bono, without remuneration, as they feel a commitment to such a common cause.

We consider the education of future generations to be of utmost importance in this area, so we would like to launch a new #GSFW EduPlatform, a global educational platform, to mark this anniversary. This platform will enable us to educate people around the world through online and on-site programs led by renowned experts. We would like to share our knowledge also with communities living in peripheral areas and with disadvantaged people through online or on-site workshops, which help them develop their skills and promote their social integration.

Our goal is to launch a comprehensive community education project with active participation and experience-based learning methods. Using interactive platforms and tools that appeal to young people, as well as studies by excellent experts, we explore the impact of the fashion industry on the environment, the system of ethical employment, and the significance of the internet and social media in an easy-to-understand and easy-to-process format. Our educational program is primarily aimed at young people and youth workers, as well as at audiences open to sustainable fashion. In addition to spreading awareness, another goal is to draw the attention of professionals as widely as possible to the fact that education in this area is also of paramount importance.
